Jo Boxer

Our dog, Jo, is 9 years old and recently has had a "bum eye". We noticed it about 2 weeks ago or so, her eye, tearing up and then finally, having matted drainage.
It seemed like overnight, her eye then changed color. We took her to the vet, and it was unsure whether, or not, she had a cataract or an infection. The eye became so inflamed that they could not even see through to the lens of the eye.

So over the past weekend, she had to wear a "e collar" so that she would not rub the eye, was given medicine for the eye and we waited to see if it improved. It had not, so today, our Jo Boxer had to have the eye removed.
This has all happened so quickly. She had the surgery today, and she did well. She is staying over one more night and then she will come home tomorrow.

She has been a pretty good dog, even though, in the recent years ( since kids have come into the picture) she has been a little more needy. Overall, though, she is a good dog, and is good with the kids.
It is a little more quiet here since she has been gone.
We have all been slowly, feeling better- Rob and I with head colds, the boys with double ear infections and a bum eye for our dog.

The only one healthy, is the cat Spankie!

I will be adding some more pictures soon - but in the mean time- here is Jo- before surgery.

Poor Jo'ie, give her granny hugs & kisses for me when you get her home .... thankgully she will feel much better as you all begin to feel better & heal. Pam, well I guess you have more than one eyeless pet in your life .... that is very fascinating.
